The New Oxford Area Historical Society (NOAHS) will be presenting its final program in celebration of this year’s 150th Anniversary of the establishment of the Borough of New Oxford. The evening’s program will feature a presentation entitled A Very Precious Gift –History of New Oxford’s Center Square by NOAHS President Mike Schen. The program is held in partnership with Cross Keys Village (CKV) and New Oxford Borough’s 150th Anniversary celebration.

In August of 1874, community leaders, businessmen and New Oxford town members moved forward with the establishment of the Borough of New Oxford and set upon themselves efforts to improve the community and set the stage for overall growth and prosperity. Those actions led to many of the community attributes we see even to this day. One of those actions was transforming an open, dusty, dirty cross-roads into a treed, park-like center square similar to what we see today. How this came to be and the evolution of New Oxford’s Center Square provides and interesting example of how our community grew.

The program will be held in the CKV Theater, located within the Harmony Ridge Community Center, located on Harmony Drive, New Oxford, PA and is free of charge and open to residents of CKV, NOAHS members and the general public. Persons wishing to attend should pre-register by Sunday, Oct. 27th to ensure seating. Cross Keys Village residents can pre-register using the Cross Key’s “Uniguest” app or by signing up at the Harmony Ridge Lobby. NOAHS members and members of the general public should pre-register by phone at (717) 842-6624 or by email at NOAHS17350@gmail.com. Please provide your name and the number in your party.
